PCC’s 2013 In-Service: Year of the big, hairy, audacious goal
Photos and story by James Hill
Chris Chairsell, Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs, unleashed the beast during PCC’s College-wide In-Service at the Sylvania Campus on Monday, Sept. 16. The beast being the BHAG, or better known as the Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal monster (see pictures). The BHAG is a challenge set forth by new College President Jeremy Brown to encourage staff and faculty to dream big the goals they want the college to achieve in 2013-14. It’s all part of the college’s push for new strategic planning initiative. Thousands of PCC staff and faculty enjoyed the In-Service during the annual day event, which also included a “PCC” shirt giveaway, voting for words that best describe PCC’s culture, honoring of the college’s 30-year or more tenured employees and a special speech by a PCC Foundation Rose Scholar.
PCC should offer a Workforce Development four level curriculum emphasizing communication skills for frontline, lead worker, supervisory and upper management employees. Could be no credit certificate programs customized for organizations or open enrollment.
