Students win award at Home and Garden Show’s ‘Serving Up Style’
Photos and story by James Hill
Portland Community College students won the Serving Up Style’s Artisan Collaboration Award for their dining area that used reclaimed, recycled and locally produced materials. The Oct. 6 design competition, part of the Portland Home and Garden Show, was a fundraiser for Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus.
Students from the college’s Interior Design, Architectural Design and Building Construction Technology programs took part in the design and building of the installation, which was titled, “Upcycle.” The installation was the brainchild of Interior Design Program mentor Robin Fisher and six students. She worked with the students on the concept since spring term.
“Serving Up Style” was a showcase of 24 difference vignettes of dining rooms created by well-known Portland area designers and design firms. For more information about one of the students involved, read this feature on the PCC Bond website.
A dinning room fit for The Hatter himself. Way to go PCC artisans! This is awesome.
