One of two new surface parking lots opened in time for the start of the winter term at PCC’s Cascade Campus. The new lot is part of an agreement with the City of Portland and area residents. The new lot will help reduce the number of PCC-related cars parking on neighborhood streets.
The new lot, identified as Parking Lot 6, brings 31 new parking spaces within the campus boundary and is outfitted with new lighting, security cameras and an emergency phone. In addition, the new lot has two landscaped bio swales to filter storm water on site, an abundance of shrubs and groundcover as well as a mix of Maple, Ash and Gingko trees. An additional lot, Parking Lot 7 to the west, is scheduled to open later this month.
PCC’s 2008 voter-approved $374 million bond program is increasing opportunities for residents to access quality, affordable higher education close to where they live and work. Additional classrooms, updated equipment and technology, and advanced workforce training programs are helping to pave the way for future employment options.
