12th Annual Asian New Year Celebration attracts big audience, plenty of fun

Story by James Hill. Photos by Simon Tam.

The 12th Annual Asian New Year Celebration brought the Southeast Portland community together on Monday, Feb. 17 with dances, music, martial arts demonstrations, vendors, Chinese calligraphy, raffles and face-painting. The celebration, held at Warner Pacific College, also featured a traditional lion dance by the NW Learning Studio dance group and speeches by PCC President Jeremy Brown, Southeast Center/Extended Learning Campus President Jessica Howard and PCC international student Naomi Barbos. All told, the event was attended by hundreds of community members and leaders.

Hi I was a performer for the Asian New Year event this year and last year. I even saw the live recording of the event in 2013 which I liked a lot. I’m wondering when will you post the 2014 live recording on your channel. Thanks!
