Photos and story by

There is still time to register for summer choral workshop.

Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus presents its first choral workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., July 28 to Aug. 1, every day in The Forum (Room 114/Building 3). The workshop consists of an exciting daily schedule including voice classes, music theory, and performance opportunities in Contemporary A Cappella, Jazz and Concert choirs. Singers will perform in both large and small ensembles as well as have solo opportunities, a full hour of daily vocal skills exercises and improve their sight reading and ear training skills. Repertoire will include everything from Mozart to the Beatles. Renowned choral instructor Pollyanna Hancock-Moody (director of Choral Studies at Rock Creek) and jazz choir master Lonnie Cline will host the workshop, which is intended for singers of all experience levels from age 16 and above. Two college credits are available.

Advance registration through PCC is required. To reserve your place, register for the Summer MUS199 Choral Workshop class via the PCC website. There is a one-time $25 registration fee for students new to PCC. Basic tuition is $176 for the week. Seniors over 62 receive free tuition (fees apply).
