Choir classes give students opportunity perform in concert
Photos and story by James Hill
Interested in singing in a choir and performing in a special holiday concert?
Singers of all levels are invited to join two choir classes at the Rock Creek Campus. The Concert Choir meets Thursday evenings beginning Thursday, Sept. 25 and is offered for credit or non-credit. No audition required. The Chamber Choir meets Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 23. An audition is required for this class.
Students will learn vocal, rehearsal and performance techniques and gain experience singing with a large group and following a conductor. The choirs will sing selections from George Frederic Handel’s holiday classic, “The Messiah,” and “Soulful Celebration.” The music will be arranged in gospel, jazz, hip hop and R&B styles in December.
The classes are being offered through the Rock Creek Music and PCC’s Community Education programs. There are options for credit, audit and non-credit. Advance registration is required. To register, visit PCC’s registration page. Community Education students do not need to be admitted to the college.
For more information on the Rock Creek choirs, contact music instructors Pollyanna Hancock-Moody (pollyanna.hancockmoody@pcc.edu) or Jason Palmer (jason.palmer@pcc.edu).
