Fire Protection Technology Program christens new engine at Cascade

Photos and story by

There was no bottle of champagne, but there was plenty of bubbly. Instructor Ed Lindsey and his Fire Protection Technology Program students turned on the hoses and had President’s Cabinet members along with faculty, staff and students, blast the new learning vehicle with water to officially christen it into the program’s fleet. The new truck will be called Engine 343 in honor of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Towers in New York City. The new truck will greatly enhance the simulated training the students do in the program by providing the latest fire science technology.
