Kate Brown, Joe Gallegos to speak at PCC’s voter registration drive

Photos and story by

Portland Community College’s student government wants its students to participate in the Nov. 4 election and a few state leaders are coming in to help with the cause.

The Associated Students of PCC is hosting a kickoff from noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the Performing Arts Center Lobby for its Voter Registration Drive at the Sylvania Campus. The event features a barbecue, guest speakers and live music to build awareness of the benefits of students and staff registering to vote by the Tuesday, Oct. 14 deadline.

Speakers include Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown; Deputy Director of Voter Registration Services Codi Trudell; State Rep. Joe Gallegos; and PCC President Jeremy Brown. Sylvania Campus Student Government Legislative Director Kole Myrick organized the drive along with several students to get the PCC community registered for the Nov. 4 election.

“We want to really engage the students,” Myrick said. “When students are engaged and registered to vote they have a lot of power. You can really make a difference because voting does matter.”

To register to vote, visit Oregon’s Secretary of State’s webpage.

I think what you typed was very logical. But, think about this, suppose you were to write a awesome post title? I ain’t suggesting your content isn’t good., but suppose you added something that makes people want more? I mean Kate Brown, Joe Gallegos to speak at PCC’s voter registration drive is kinda vanilla. You might peek at Yahoo’s home page and see how they write news headlines to get people to open the links. You might add a related video or a related picture or two to grab readers excited about what you’ve got to say. Just my opinion, it would bring your website a little livelier.
