President visits with students during first week of winter term
Photos and story by James Hill
During the first week of classes, there’s plenty of helpful staff on duty at tables and commons areas ready to assist and direct students to the right resources. One of those staffers included PCC President Jeremy Brown.
Brown enjoyed some time out and about with students to chat about what they are up to and even help them find the right office. That is what happened to student Elvin Lopez of Guatemala. Lopez’ English wasn’t the best and when greeted by Brown in Spanish, asked for assistance in some business he had with the registrar located at the Sylvania Campus Answer Center. Brown, who is fluent in Spanish, guided him to the right window and proceeded to translate for him.
It wasn’t all serious business for Brown. He spun the “Wheel of Fortune” wheel set up by ASPCC in an attempt to win a prize, had some free coffee with some students, wrote about what he did during his Christmas break (watched Manchester United) onto a poster and said “hello” to as many hustling and bustling students as he could. Not a bad week!
