Darrell Grant, internationally known jazz pianist, composer and educator, began piano lessons at age seven and entered the famed Eastman School of Music at 17. After moving to New York, he became known to audiences internationally as the pianist with the legendary vocalist Betty Carter. Grant relocated to Portland in 1997 to join the jazz department at Portland State University. He performs extensively as a bandleader and solo artist throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe in venues ranging from clubs to major jazz festivals. He has been a featured guest on the BET On Jazz “Jazz Central” program, and has performed on Marian McPartland’s “Piano Jazz” on National Public Radio.
