Artistry celebrated with ‘A Week of Creative Writing’ at PCC, beginning May 31
Photos and story by Kate Chester
The spring term is coming to a close but not without an imaginative “pop” before finals, thanks to the creativity of PCC students and their contributions to a variety of campus literary journals.
PCC’s Cascade Campus kicks off the festivities. Beginning Tuesday, May 31 at 3 p.m., students and published authors will share their work featured in the current issue of Cascade’s annual literary journal, The Pointed Circle. The reading will take place in Terrell Hall, Rm. 122, with English faculty Wendy Bourgeois and her Writing 246 students hosting.
Later that week, on Thursday, June 2, the Sylvania Campus will hold a creative writing celebration at noon in the North View Gallery, located in the Communication Technology building. Students and published authors featured in the current issue of Alchemy, Sylvania’s annual literary journal, will present their work, as will this year’s Creative Writing Focus Award recipients.
Also on June 2, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Southeast Campus will host a Student-Faculty reading in the campus library to celebrate its annual literary journal, Center Street.
All are welcome to attend the events and praise the achievements of student and faculty writers. For more information, contact Andrew Cohen, Sylvania Campus Creative Writing instructor, at either Andrew.cohen@pcc.edu or (971) 722-8019.
