PCC honors 16 graduates who are thinking big as Caterpillar service techs
Photos and story by Janis Nichols
Sixteen new Caterpillar dealer service technicians received their two-year associate degrees this summer during a ceremony at PCC’s Rock Creek Campus.
This program is a partnership between Portland Community College and local Caterpillar dealerships in the Northwest. It is an industry specific two-year degree program with required on-the-job training/internships at sponsoring Caterpillar dealership. It is designed to prepare individuals to become qualified Caterpillar service technicians. Participating dealers are located across the northwest with services in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Ish Rivas, instructor and CAT dealer service technician, said the program will welcome 24 new students to the ThinkBig program when classes resume in September.
