Photos and story by Janis Nichols
The Portland Community College Rock Creek Choirs will present “Light and Hope,” a concert featuring music of the season, at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10. The event will take place in The Forum (Room 114), in Building 3, Rock Creek Campus.
Directed by Pollyanna Hancock-Moody and performed by students and members of the community, “Light and Hope” offers a slate of inspirational songs including “Stille Nacht,” Spanish carols such as “Riu Riu Chiu” and “A la Nanita Nana,” Celtic arrangements of “I Saw Three Ships” and “The Holly and The Ivy,” and many more.
Proceeds from the concert will help fund the choir program. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 16. Admission is free for PCC students and staff. Tickets (cash or check only) are available at the door. Donations for the choral program are appreciated and will be collected at the door. Parking is free.
The college’s Rock Creek Campus offers vocal classes, as well as supports a community choir on Thursday evenings. All singers are welcome. For more information about the choirs and the concert, contact Jason Palmer at either jason.palmer@pcc.edu, or (971) 722-7869.
