Newberg Learning Garden wants to get you dirty for worthy community events

The Newberg Center Learning Garden is hosting multiple events the final week of April designed to get you down and dirty.
On Tuesday, April 25, organizers will be hosting a cob and community building event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center’s garden on Brutscher Street and East Fernwood Road in Newberg. It’s an opportunity to get involved with the garden, learn about cob building techniques, meet the community, exchange knowledge, and develop hands-on experience in natural cob building. Plus, it’s a chance to build resumes, portfolios, and volunteer hours.
“It really is a lot of fun, playing and working with mud, sand, and straw and getting to know our neighbors and community,” said Moonrose Doherty, learning garden coordinator.
There will be refreshments and kids are welcome. Bring a water bottle, wear old clothes that can get dirty, boots or shoes that can get muddy, and a rain jacket.
Schedule:
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 25 and Saturday, April 29, Cob Volunteer Workshop, Newberg Center Learning Garden.
- 1:30-3 p.m., Saturday, April 29, Seed Exchange, Newberg Center Lobby.
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 5, Cob Volunteer Workshop, Newberg Center Learning Garden.
