Chris Villa begins tenure as Rock Creek Campus president
Photos and story by James Hill
Portland Community College rolled out the welcome mat for its newest leader.
Last week, Chris Villa officially started as president of the Rock Creek Campus and met with nearly 100 campus and college-wide staff in a welcome ceremony in the Event Center. Villa previously served as the vice president of Student Services at Los Angeles Mission College (LAMC) and takes over one of Washington County’s primary higher education locations.
His job at the campus is big. Rock Creek is 260 acres and has 14 career tech programs. Of all the 21,000 students that attend the rural campus annually, 66 percent enroll in college transfer courses and 18 percent in CTE programs.
“This is an amazing place to work,” Villa told the crowd. “I’m so excited to be here.”
