PCC adds championship-winning coach to women's basketball team

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College has announced Rob Pridemore as their new women’s basketball head coach.Pridemore has spent the last four years teaching and coaching at Hillsboro High School. Prior to Hillsboro, Pridemore spent five years as an assistant coach at Western Oregon University where he was part of 1995-96 NAIA National Championship team. Pridemore brings a proven recruiting record to the Panthers who will begin play in their new gymnasium this season, which is located at the Cascade Campus in north Portland."It’s a great opportunity for me"said Pridemore. "I’m excited to get back to recruiting, which is a strength of mine, and have missed since coaching at the high school level."Pridemore says that his first priority is recruiting to round out the roster. PCC currently has only eight girls on its roster, which typically needs 15 to function as a full team. PCC is a member of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) conference. The NWAACC has 36 members that are split into four divisions. PCC is a member of the Southern Division. Portland Community College is the largest post-secondary educational institution in Oregon, enrolling nearly 100,000 students annually, and operating three comprehensive campuses along with five workforce training and education centers, a small business development center and education outlets in hundreds of community and business locations.
