Photos and story by James Hill
PORTLAND – Ever wondered what an author was thinking when he or she wrote a particular paragraph? If so, here is a great opportunity to read the work of local authors and meet them for an in-depth, first-hand discussion of their writing in the Portland Community College non-credit class Oregon Authors. Students will get to meet Tom Spanbauer and read his book, "The Man Who Fell in Love With the Moon" on Oct. 10, and get to know Karen Karbo and read her book, "Motherhood Made a Man Out of Me," on Oct. 17. Also, students will get to meet Judith Barrington and scan her memoir, "Lifesaving," on Nov. 7.It will be a perfect time to ask questions of the authors and get to know their writing styles more intimately. The Oregon Authors class runs Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m., starting Tuesday, Sept. 26 and ending Nov. 7. The class will meet in room 224 at Wilson High School, located at 1151 S.W. Vermont.
