Photos and story by Christine Egan
Esther Loanzon, an Adult Basic Education and General Education Development instructor at the Southeast Center, is hosting a “Tea Transcending Culture” get-together from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, in the Great Hall, Mt. Tabor Building. All are welcome to attend and enjoy some tea and good company.
Loanzon said the purpose of this event is to increase the awareness of cultural practices attached to tea. The title of the event recognizes that tea is not only a common drink in many parts of the world, but also represents a shared moment and shared humanity that transcends cultural divides and geography. Past teas at the Southeast Center have drawn PCC students, staff and faculty from various countries, including Great Britain, Somalia, Russia, Middle East and Vietnam.
