Rock Creek welcomes VA leaders, celebrates growing Veterans Resource Center
Photos and story by James Hill
After four years, Rock Creek’s Veterans Resource Center is thriving.
Serving more than 400 veterans students annually, the center was recognized at a recent open house for its efforts in engaging and serving vets through the PCC-VetSuccess partnership. Gathered students enjoyed refreshments and speeches by Regional Benefits Office Assistant Director Carol Roane, Campus President Sandra Fowler-Hill and Rock Creek Dean of Student Development Narce Rodriguez, who founded Rock Creek’s center.
Attendees also got to enjoy a special exhibit “War Ink,” which is an intimate collection of photographs of PCC veterans’ tattoos. Also, Rock Creek Veterans Resource Center Coordinator Stephanie Culbreath was given a certificate of appreciation by the Department of Veterans Affairs to recognize her efforts leading the center.
Overall, PCC has more than 1,100 students who are military veterans with resource centers located at Rock Creek, Sylvania and Cascade.
