Sometimes money does fall from the sky.
The PCC Foundation, on behalf of the college’s Aviation Science and Aviation Maintenance Technology programs, accepted a $20,000 donation in support of student scholarships from the Oregon International Air Show. Both programs are based at the Rock Creek Campus.
The funds were actually awarded in August but the ceremonial check arrived at Rock Creek Campus this month. The gift supports scholarships for five currently enrolled aviation students. Since 1988, the Oregon International Air Show has donated more than $1.6 million to local charities. This is the first year it has recognized the Rock Creek programs.
Rock Creek’s Multicultural Center Awarded $7,000
And there’s more good news from Rock Creek.
The PCC Foundation has accepted a check for $7,000 from the IME Becas Scholarship Program for the Rock Creek Multicultural Center.
The check, presented by Mexican Consul General of Oregon Francisco Maass Pena, recognizes the fund-raising success of the Rock Creek Multicultural Center on behalf of students protected by the DREAM Act. The Rock Creek Multicultural Center raised more than $25,000 last May during its first DREAMERs Scholarship Gala.
The Dream Act created a multi-phased process for undocumented immigrants in the U.S. that would first grant conditional residency and upon meeting further qualifications, permanent residency.
