PORTLAND, Ore. – Students will travel to a paleontological site for hands-on excavating in Archeology of the Northwest, a non-credit class being offered this summer by Portland Community College. An introductory session will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, 6651 S.W. According to Stenger, several noted finds have been made at the site, including a giant ground sloth that measured 20 feet high, and a large predator bird with the wingspan of a Ford van.Tuition for the class is $90.
