PCC's Northview Gallery Shows Work of Ohio's Heimdal Through Feb. 12

Photos and story by

Intriguing images from the mind of Ohio artist Georg Heimdal are there for all eyes to see in an exhibit of his recent work at Portland Community College’s Northview Gallery through February 12.

Heimdal, who is both a painter and the chairman of the Art Department at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, describes his work as autobiographical. He uses both figurative and landscape images to create a narrative that illustrates significant events and places in his life.

Heimdal is also known for using a formal and very disciplined approach in his paintings layering small brush strokes to create a very dense color and rich field somewhat reminiscent of Post-Impressionist art work. He has exhibited widely in the United States and throughout Europe.

Gallery hours during the Heimdal exhibit are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Northview Gallery is on the PCC Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave., Portland, in the CT Building, Room 214.
