Drivers Wanted for PCC Course

SYLVANIA CAMPUS/CAPITAL CENTER – Professionally trained drivers know that the best way to drive is to do it defensively. Now, driver’s can learn how to be just as defensive as the pros in a Portland Community College non-credit course titled 30-Hour Drivers Education. Students will learn defensive driving techniques, emergency maneuvers and other critical techniques.The classes will be offered at three times and several locations. The first two classes will run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday between July 9 to July 26 in room 206 at the ST Building of the Sylvania Campus (located at 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.) and room 1563 at the Washington County Workforce Training Center at the Capital Center (located at 185th and Walker Road in Beaverton). The other course will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays between July 7 and Sept. 1 in room 203 of the SC Building at the Sylvania Campus.The cost is $345. A prerequisite is that students must have a valid Oregon driver’s permit. The class will feature 30-hour classroom instruction, including six hours of instructor observation and six hours of behind-the-wheel training.
