PCC Offers beginning Yoga to help people relaxTIGARD, Ore. – Have you ever wanted to discover the incredible rewards of practicing yoga? Then Portland Community College has the class just for you. The non-credit course, Yoga Level I, is a beginning level class with an emphasis on breathing techniques, concentration and relaxation.The class will run from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday between June 25 and Sept. 3 at the Tigard Howard Johnson, located at 11460 S.W. Pacific Highway. Bring an empty stomach and a thick blanket. Cost is $41. The instructor is Urszula Wisniewski.Fitness Club Blues? Try PCC’s Tai Chi Quan ClassTIGARD, Ore. – Are you tired of working out with heavy weights, nonstop music blaring in your ear and fighting for that last treadmill at the fitness club? There is a better way with PCC’s non-credit course, Tai Chi Quan – Short Form. The class runs from 3 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday starting June 26 and ending Aug. 14 on the L-level of the Tigard Senior Center, located at 8815 S.W. O’Mara Road.Tai Chi Quan will teach students the proper way of exercising to seek out the balance and harmony in mind and body. Instructor Connie Zhang will also guide students through the 24-gesture Yang style Tai Chi Quan form. The tuition is $40. Students are encouraged not to wear black-soled or street shoes.
