Summer Art Classes Offered at PCC

PORTLAND, Ore. – Artists can focus on the beauty of Portland’s parks and learn to create with clay in two non-credit classes being offered this summer by Portland Community College.Drawing and Watercolor in Parks will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, June 26 through Aug. 14. The first class will meet in Room 116 of Terrell Hall at PCC’s Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth St. Tuition is $72. Instructor Jeanette Stewart will provide a supportive environment that stresses demonstrations and individual attention. Students of all abilities will travel to Peninsula, Grant and Laurelhurst parks and the Leach Botanical Gardens to explore and expand their skills in drawing and watercolor. A supply list will be provided at class. Ceramics All Levels will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, with lab from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 27 through Aug. 29, in Room 130 in Terrell Hall. Instructor Betsy K. Smith will teach students how to be creative with clay while learning ceramic skills. Emphasis is on high fire stoneware clay, which can be purchased in class.
