Paul Hill Becomes Sylvania's New Dean of Instruction

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College announces that Paul Hill is the new Sylvania Campus dean of instruction. Hill, a resident of Beaverton, comes to PCC from Delta College in University Center, Mich., where he served as the interim dean of Academic Administration for the 2000-01 year. He will begin the job later this month and replaces the retiring Shirley Anderson, who has served in the position since 1991.At Delta College, Hill prepared and managed an instructional budget of more than $24 million, oversaw program development, customized instructional delivery, and marketed the academic programs. He earned his doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May. Hill also has a master’s degree in music-choral conducting from the New England Conservatory in Boston and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Kent State University in Ohio."PCC has an excellent reputation, and the high quality of the faculty and staff, the collegial atmosphere, the commitment to diversity, and the sense of dedication is readily apparent,"Hill said. "My highest priority is, and will always be, a focus on the quality of teaching and learning, providing our students the very best possible education."Hill served as Delta College’s associate dean of Academic Administration from 1999-2000, the division chair of the humanities department from 1996-99, and assistant music professor from 1989-96. From 1982-89, Hill worked as a music teacher for Escuela Bella Vista in Maracaibo, Venezuela and The Roxbury Latin School in Massachusetts.
