42nd Avenue Fiesta to Celebrate Diversity

PORTLAND, Ore. – In the mood for Latin flavor to spice up your summer? Look no further than the 42nd Avenue Fiesta, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the PCC Metropolitan Workforce Training Center, located at 5600 N.E. 42nd Avenue and Killingsworth St. Admission is free to the public. The goal of the 42nd Avenue Fiesta is to celebrate the cultural diversity of the 42nd Avenue community.The fiesta will feature scores of local food vendors, a live Latin band, salsa dance lessons, special activities for children and a dog wash to name a few. Tonya Parker, the new director of the Bureau of Housing and Community Development, will open the fiesta with a few remarks. The fiesta is co-sponsored by the 42nd Avenue Target Area businesses, Central Northeast Neighbors, the Bureau of Housing and Community Development, Hacienda Community Development Corporation, St. Charles Church, Whitaker SUN School, Concordia Neighborhood Association, and Portland Community College.
