PCC Classes in Hillsboro Focus on Dalai Lama, Holiday Letters

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Non-credit classes at Century High School, 2000 S.W. 234th Ave. in Hillsboro focus on the ideals of the Dalai Lama and creating your own holiday cards and letters. The Teachings of the Dalai Lama will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 10-24. Cost is $21. Instructor Jacqueline Mandell will lead participants in a discussion of this world-renowned religious leader, Nobel Peace Prize winner, best-selling author and champion for world peace. Topics will include secular ethics, universal responsibility, compassion, tolerance, forgiveness and honesty. The class text is titled "Ethics for the New Millenium: His Holiness the Dalai Lama." Holiday Letters and Cards will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 27 through Oct. 11, and also from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 20 through Dec. 4. Tuition for each class is $35. Instructor Diane Shingledecker will explore the use of MS Word to produce holiday cards and letters quickly and easily. Participants will learn how to design their own cards and newsletters, create an address list, and use mail merge, labels and other holiday-oriented features to make their correspondence stand out.For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-533-2708.
