Wetlands Naturalist Series Set at Jackson Bottom

HILLSBORO, Ore. – The ecology at Jackson Bottom Wetlands will be featured during the non-credit Wetlands Naturalist Series being offered this fall by Portland Community College.The series includes five classes – Wetland Ecology, Birds, Wetland Plants, Wetland Animals and Teaching Techniques – that illustrate the ecological connection between water, soil, plants and animals. Classes will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Oct. 3 through Dec. 5, in Conference Room A at the Jackson Bottom Water Quality Lab, 2660 S.W. Highway 219. Tuition for all five classes is $80. A $10 materials fee is payable at the first class.Taught by Patrick Willis, the classes provide hands-on experience with wetlands, watersheds, mammal pelts and tracks, birds, plants and habitat restoration.
