Create, market your own computer game with online class

PORTLAND, Ore. – What can you do to cure the around-the-clock computer game addict in your house? Turn a love of computer games into a profit-making business.Portland Community College will offer Introduction to the Game Industry this summer, a non-credit class. In an online format that caters to computer lovers, this class can prepare you to succeed in the technical, artistic, or business side of game development. Students will gain an overview of the playing field and discover what hidden challenges and advantages the industry holds. Finish the class knowing if computer gaming is right for you, and how to take the first step.The class will be taught by Tom Meigs, a professional game designer and producer for leading electronic equipment developers including THQ and The Walt Disney Company. Meigs is a contributing writer for "Game Developer Magazine"and is the founding partner of an independent wireless gaming company. With 10 years as a successful independent game consultant, Meigs offers the inside track to working in this cutting-edge industry and making a steady profit.It’s a class every member of the household can appreciate:"Finally!
