TWO ITEMS: Skills bloom with floral photography class

BEAVERTON, Ore. – How do you photograph that velvety hue that makes roses so beautiful? It’s harder than you think to capture flowers on film. This summer, learn the right way to photograph flowers in a Portland Community College class.Flowers! Flowers! Flowers!, a non-credit class, will help hone your craft in creating photos that reflect what you see with your eye. Instructor Warren Mitchell will offer practice in composition, exposure, films, lenses, reflectors, metering, depth of field and shutter speeds. The class includes a Sunday fieldtrip."Warren wants students to be as excited as he is about finding that ?floral feeling’ when it comes to taking pictures,"says Janice Dolan, PCC Community Education manager. "It’s a great class for experienced photographers who want to sharpen their skills and have some fun in the process."The class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursdays, June 26 and July 3, with a fieldtrip on Sunday, June 29. The class will be held in Room 1569 of the PCC Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. A Portland Community College non-credit class will show you how to create a finished piece of artwork that will hold special meaning for you and your family.Animal Art welcomes all levels of artists to capture their pet on paper. Even if you have no painting experience, instructor Tim Tanner will guide you to develop a personal keepsake while you practice art skills. Students will work from photos and reference material using any medium (pen, pencil, ink, charcoal, watercolor or acrylic paint)."More than capturing a likeness, Tim can teach you how to capture the personality of your pet,"says Gary Palmer, PCC Community Education manager. "It’s a great way to immortalize the bond you have with your pet while you learn."The class will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, June 24 through Aug. 12, in Room 1542 at PCC’s Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W.
