PCC Board picks Gold Hill for president search

PORTLAND, Ore. – The PCC Board has chosen Gold Hill Associates in its search for a new president of Portland Community College at its July 17 meeting.Based in Asheville, N.C., Gold Hill has assisted nearly 60 boards of trustees with presidential searches since its inception in 1990. Gold Hill has assisted large multi-college or multi-campus districts find new leadership. Some of those institutions include the Seattle Community Colleges, Butte-Glenn Community College District in California, Pima County Community College in Tucson, Mercer County Community College in Trenton, N.J., and, Houston Community College in Texas.Bob Barringer, Gold Hill’s principal who will be assisting PCC in this search for new leadership, has been a leader in the community college movement for more than 30 years.He served three institutions as permanent president – College of the Albemarle in North Carolina, Catonsville Community College in Maryland, and Brookdale Community College in New Jersey. As president of Brookdale, Barringer was named "One of the Most Successful College Presidents in the Country,"by the Exxon Foundation.The firm is also assisted by four associates, each of whom is a successful current or retired community college president.
