TWO ITEMS: Collector class shows how to display, assess value

BEAVERTON, Ore. – You’re not sure you can display your collection, but you don’t want to hide it away in a box either – so what do you do with it? This spring, Portland Community College will offer tips for making the most of personal collections in a new non-credit class.I Have a Collection! Now What? will be taught by Noelle Pen. As an interior designer as well as a collector herself, Pen will offer new techniques and some trade secrets of professional display. Students will discover how to tell if their collections are valuable and how to best display treasures. The result is a fun new way to enjoy your collection and share it with others. "We all have our precious ?stuff,’ but why feel guilty about hanging on to it?"said Janice Dolan, PCC Community Education manager. "Let this class teach you how to display your collection so you can see it easily and demonstrate the place it holds in your life."The three-week class will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 30 through April 13, in Room C7 at Cedar Park Middle School, 11100 S.W. Students will examine CD’s, bonds, stocks, mutual funds and annuities to create and position their portfolios for financial gain.
