Margie Adam Concert to Benefit PCC's Diversity Fund

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – Acclaimed singer and songwriter Margie Adam will bring her national tour to the Sylvania Campus at Portland Community College. Adam will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, in the Performing Arts Center, located at 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. The concert is part of Adam’s lecture and music performance series that coincides with the launch of her eighth album, "Avalon."There will also be an informal discussion with Adam on topics that include women’s music and culture, and strategies for positive change. "Conversation with Margie Adam,"will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, also at the Performing Arts Center. It’s free of charge.Adam has been a featured performer for several national media programs and has written songs for well-known acts. Peter, Paul, and Mary recorded her song, "Best Friend (The Unicorn Song), and listeners of National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered will recognize her tunes. The song "How Many?"has been featured in AIDS walks and Names Project Quilt displays around the country. Also, the recording "We Shall Go Forth!"(known as the anthem of the Women’s Liberation Movement) is a part of the Political History Division of the Smithsonian Museum.This concert and lecture will foster networking opportunities for feminists, activists, and music-lovers.
