PCC non-credit class helps home buyers get best deal

PORTLAND, Ore. – With interest rates hovering at their lowest point in more than 20 years, now is the time to buy a home and lock in a great rate. But where do you start? A non-credit Portland Community College class can show you the steps to take to not only buy your dream home, but get the best deal. Whether you are a first-time home buyer or looking to move to a new location, Buying a Home 101 offers expert techniques. Instructor David Axness will explain the ins and outs of house hunting, multiple listing services (MLS), legal documents, frequently asked questions, home inspection, title insurance, settlement costs, who pays what, moving tips and how much home you can afford. The one-day class will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, in the Pine Room of the CC Building at PCC’s Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Cost is $15.
