Wetland Classes at PCC Promises to WOW Any Student

HILLSBORO, Ore. – Thanks to a new partnership formed with the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, Portland Community College is offering two spring non-credit classes that will educate students on the ecology of wetlands. The classes are Project Wet/Wild, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday April 20 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21; and The Wonders of Wetlands Geology, which is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 11 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 12. Both classes will be held in conference room A at the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve, located at 2550 S.W. Hillsboro Hwy.Led by Lin Howell, Project Wet/Wild teaches communications techniques and issues about the planet through storytelling, nature journals, hands-on programs and techniques in instructing classroom and outdoor programs. Cost is $27. The Wonders of Wetlands Geology, also instructed by Howell, focuses on the diverse array of wetland activities such as hydrology, soils, history and mapping.
