PORTLAND, Ore. – There is plenty of time for students to sign up for spring term classes at Portland Community College. The term officially starts on Monday, April 2 and students can register for classes on the touchtone phone system, TRAIL, at 503-977-5000, or toll-free at 1-866-822-1010. Students may also contact Admissions Offices at any of PCC’s three comprehensive campuses: Sylvania Campus (located at 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.) at 503-977-4519; Cascade Campus (705 N. Killingsworth) at 503-978-5282; and the Rock Creek Campus (17705 N.W. Springville Road) at 503-614-7279. Registration is also available on the Internet at: www.pcc.edu.PCC will leap forward this spring with many exciting events. The 15th annual Art Beat festival will transform every campus into a kaleidoscope of visual, performing and literary arts from May 7-11. Adriene Cruz, an award-winning quilter who has exhibited at the Smithsonian and National Black Arts Festival, is the featured artist. For more information, call 503-977-4270.Rock Creek Campus will once again be the site for the Community Fair, scheduled to entertain the public with farm animals, clowns, dance performances and highlights of PCC programs on Saturday, May 12. The Sylvania Campus will celebrate the raising of its Native American totem pole from May 21-25 with acclaimed Kwaguilth carver Richard Hunt (Vancouver, Island, B.C.) putting the finishing touches on the 30-foot pole. These events are free and open to the public.PCC is the largest institution of higher learning in the state, serving more than 940,000 residents in a five-county, 1,500-square-mile area in northwest Oregon. The college, which enrolls almost 97,000 students annually, has three comprehensive campuses, which provide lower-division college transfer courses, two-year associate degree programs, professional and technical career training.
