New Films From Around the World - Foreign Films: 2000-2025
Campus contacts [opens in new window]
Discover the great new foreign films of the past 25 years. We'll catch up with the best from around the world with informal discussions about the history, art and culture of these films.
This new class is your opportunity to watch these great new foreign films. It has become difficult keeping up with the immense world of international cinema: arthouse movie theaters have been disappearing, streaming services rarely offer foreign-language films and viewing options have been shrinking. We'll pick films from France, Germany, Italy, The U.K., Austria, Romania. Following the films we'll have informal discussions, learning about the culture, the art, the business, and history of each film. No ancient silent films. No trendy hyper-violent films. No dreadful four-hour movies of sad-looking Swedish people. None of those terrible Italian sex comedies from 1964. All will be in color, made in the past 24 years. Some will be in English. The rest will have subtitles.
