Yoga for Nurturing Your Inner Child
Seek to transform suffering derived from painful early life experiences into compassion for yourself and others through yoga sequences inspired by meditation master Thich Nhat Hanh's book "Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child." All levels are welcome, but participants should be able to get down to and up from the floor with ease.
Class sessions will include short readings from Thich Nhat Hanh's book, simple meditation practices, breathing techniques, chanting, and a balance of dynamic and restful physical yoga poses. Weekly themes might include cultivating the energy of mindfulness in order to look deeply at unresolved childhood wounds; lovingly inviting your inner child to accompany you in daily life (on and off the yoga mat); fostering intergenerational healing retroactively to our ancestors and proactively to our descendants; learning from suffering; accepting impermanence; releasing tension from the body; strengthening our foundation of joy and happiness; and recognizing how transforming our own suffering opens us up for deeper, more authentic connections with others.
