Meditation and Its Forms

Campus contacts

Learn and practice the many forms of meditation that span multiple traditions. From breathing meditation, loving kindness, elemental body contemplation, jhana, asubha, and more, this class is intended to help you find a practice that suits and interests you.

Taught by an ex-monastic and meditator of 15 years, the content is mindful of people's lives and interests. Meditations throughout the entire course will start fairly short and increase steadily in duration as it moves along, so as to make the sits themselves easeful for those who may be new to the practice. The class is organic and follows two principles that the instructor finds very important: that historical context is essential, and that personal experience is valued. Inclusivity, tenderness, empathy, and compassion will always be brought into the circle, as these are all qualities that are crucial to have when working with these practices. Oftentimes, meditation and introspection can cause both moments of deep insight and deep tenderness. It is incredibly important that the circle is welcoming, non-judgmental, and that compassionate space is fostered for anything that may arise, and for anyone that may enter.
