Writing Monsters
Monsters of all kinds invited here: bone-chilling horror, freaky sci-fi, cool video game boss, DnD species, or sympathetic protagonist. We explore aspects of monsterhood, write our own, and discuss each other's work. All levels welcome.
The bulk of this class will be writer's-workshop style. You will have writing prompts to choose from, and you can also chase your own inspiration. There will be optional suggestions to help solidify concepts and to inspire new ideas. Learn about the history and theory behind monsters in media, develop analytical skills to interpret and discuss their roles, create unique designs, and develop effective monster-building for whatever genre or themes excite you. Our discussions will pull from film, literature, video games, comics and more.
