A one day faculty workshop sponsored by SPARC (Sustainable Practices for Academics and Resources Council)

The SPARC committee invites you to enhance your teaching and engagement with environmental issues by participating in a training workshop on Friday, April 26, 2013. This workshop is based on AASHE’s (The Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) Ponderosa/Piedmont Projects, leading sustainability curriculum development trainings. This sustainability curriculum model draws from a cross-disciplinary approach in curricular change. We invite faculty from various disciplines and perspectives to attend this workshop about this important movement in higher education.

Are you thinking about developing a new course or new modules in an existing course that incorporates environmental or sustainability issues?

The workshop will explore how we can meaningfully integrate sustainability into our classrooms. Inspiring guest speakers will engage participants in local/global topics as workshop leaders facilitate discussion on green curriculum and its integration to the broader community. Also, discover how PCC’s Climate Action Plan drives SPARC’s initiatives on the development of sustainability curriculum at PCC.

Participants will receive a stipend (part-time faculty) for the day’s training and be provided support, through SPARC, in the development of a new course, or the revision of a current course.

Application: If you are interested in attending, please submit your name, department, course title for revision or development, and a one paragraph description of how you plan to change a current course or develop a new one to:

Lutgarda Cowan, SPARC Chair, lutgarda.cowan@pcc.edu

Application Deadline: Thursday, March 14
