CIO brief: IT responding to network congestion
Posted by amcmahon
Unexpected rate of increase in network traffic over the last six months (primarily due to increasing media traffic and expansion of Public Safety systems) is overtaxing our core network switches – resulting in increase in reported network issues. IT Infrastructure team is working with the Bond Office to expedite upgrading this critical piece of infrastructure by May. Our most critical project, Banner 9 upgrade, continues on track. Currently recruiting for two vacant Director positions. InfoSec focus is the remediation of the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerability – which could extend to over 40,000 networked devices across the district. Completed Annual IT Customer Satisfaction Survey, which had a great (and statistically relevant) response across all stakeholder groups. Should have completed analysis and report by end of April – initial review indicates significant increase in satisfaction across all categories (and higher than peer institutions).
