Interested in community development, social justice, equity, nonprofit programming, teaching art, ceramics, or sports to children? 2. El Programa Hispano Catolico: Tax Preparers, Intake Assistants, Trained Interpreters, and Quality Reviewers needed.

VITA provides volunteers a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s low-income Latino families. No experience is necessary, only the desire to help! By taking our free training and volunteering just four hours a week during tax season you can provide this vital service and in turn an important step towards economic security to those most in need. You will also learn a useful skill, gain a meaningful new experience and become a part of a great team of like-minded people!

Orientations are taking place throughout November and December, trainings in January. Volunteer service runs January 24th to April 18th, 2016. Please contact our Site Coordinator with any interest or questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you!

I. Do you speak Spanish? You can help Latino families in need!

We offer a variety of positions working directly with taxpayers for volunteers with Spanish abilities depending on interest and availability. Tax Preparers learn basic tax preparation through our free 30-hour training (held over four Saturdays, January 2nd-23rd), while Intake Assistants take a 3-hour training provided in mid-January. We are also seeking trained Interpreters.

II. Do you have tax experience? You can help your community this season!

Quality Reviewers are essential to the success of our program, ensuring high-quality, accurate preparation and service. Spanish is helpful but is not required. Continuing Education (CE) credit is available.
